Plastic cups manufactured in a range of materials from Poly Polypropylene (PP) Poly Styrene (PS) Polyethylene Terephthalate (PET) , Polylactic acid or Polylactide (PLA) all are recyclable but have distinctly direct properties, PP whilst being economical and virtually unbreakable, can not be made totally clear, and does not normally have a fully rolled rim. PS is reasonably economical, can be made quite clear, can have rolled rim, but will crack / split when squeezed. PET considered to be more environmentally friendly, good clarity, can have rolled rims, wont crack or split, but is much more expensive than PP or PS. PLA has all the characteristics of PET, is manufactured from renewable resources and is biodegradable and recyclable, but is more expensive than PET.
